Learn about Japanese cherry blossom culture from Professor Ron Henderson and view the opening of his public art exhibition.

Ahead of Nashville’s Cherry Blossom Festival, the Nashville Public Library and Nashville Tree Foundation are pleased to welcome Ron Henderson, co-curator of the exhibition Sakura Orihon: Diary of a Cherry Blossom Journey, for a public lecture about his travels where he immersed himself in Japanese cherry blossom culture. See highlights of his visits to the oldest cherry trees in the world—all between 1,000 and 2,000 years old—and learn about Japanese methods of tree care. An exhibit of his sketches from this journey will be on display in the library lobby immediately following the lecture and until April 10th. Ron is a Professor of Landscape Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and a Senior Fellow of Garden and Landscape Studies at Dumbarton Oaks.
