Nestled within the expansive Ellington Agricultural Center, the Demonstration and Educational Gardens are a testament to the Master Gardeners of Davidson County's commitment to education, community, and sustainable gardening practices. This collection of diverse garden styles offers a living classroom for gardeners of all levels, providing inspiration and practical knowledge to anyone interested in Middle Tennessee horticulture.

Location and Accessibility

Located directly behind the Tennessee Extension Central Region Office building (5201 Marchant Dr, Nashville, 37211), these gardens are easily accessible to the public. All parts of the gardens are accessible to gardeners of all abilities, ensuring that everyone can enjoy and learn from this rich botanical resource. The gardens are open to all and  free to explore during the operating hours of the Ellington Agricultural Center.

Shade Garden

This serene garden area showcases plants that thrive in low-light conditions, providing a cool and inviting retreat during the warmer months.


Sedum Garden

Featuring a variety of low-maintenance, drought-tolerant plants, the Sedum Garden demonstrates how to create beautiful, resilient landscapes using minimal water.


Herb Garden

A sensory delight, the Herb Garden is filled with aromatic and culinary herbs. Visitors can learn about the diverse uses of herbs in cooking, medicine, and crafting.


Iris Garden

Bursting with color, the Iris Garden highlights this beloved perennial, showcasing different varieties that thrive in our climate.


Xeriscape Garden

This garden demonstrates water-wise gardening techniques, featuring plants that require minimal irrigation, perfect for conserving water in home gardens.


Southern Cottage Garden

Evoking the charm of traditional southern landscapes, this garden blends perennials, annuals, and shrubs in a picturesque and inviting setting.

Butterfly Garden

Designed to attract and support butterflies, this garden includes nectar and host plants that cater to the entire lifecycle of these beautiful pollinators.


Square Foot Garden

Our award-winning Square Foot Garden demonstrates intensive gardening techniques that maximize yields in small spaces, making it ideal for urban gardeners.


Accessible Raised Beds

Banana Plants

Vertical Garden

Fairy Garden

Rain Garden
