Work Day at Grassmere Historical Garden

  • October 31, 2018
  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Grassmere Historic Garden at the Nashville Zoo

The Grassmere Heirloom Gardens are part of the Grassmere Historic Farm and Historic Croft House, ca. 1810, located at the Nashville Zoo.  They are  re-creations of the family gardens on the original site behind the Croft House and interpreted to reflect the 1880's.  The garden is restored to the 3 distinct tiers observed in old photographs: Flowers, vegetable, and an orchard.  There are also 2 herb gardens, antique roses, berries and grape vines.   Master Gqrdeners have been involved in the gardens since 1997.

Come join us on our work days (Monday - Wednesday-Saturday) from 9 to noon.  No matter what your interest in gardening, Grassmere offers a wide range of opportunities to learn from the fellow volunteers, who share gardening information and stories with zoo visitors while working.

If interested in joing fellow Master Gardeners, contact the Project Chairs, Chuck Vehorn and Rich  Shiavi at   Grassmere@mgofdc.org  for information on volunteering!
