Master Gardeners of Davidson Couny March Monthly Meeting

  • Thursday, March 14th (2nd Thursday of the month)
  • Creivewood United Methodist Church - 451 Hogan Road (corner of Hogan and Marchant)
  • Please wear your name badge.
  • For March, we will be trying our new monthly meeting format one more time  - but we will tighten the format so that we don't eat so late.
    • Doors open to us at 5:45 pm.  We set up the room and you are welcome to help with set up or socialize at this time.
    • Meeting will start promptly at 6:30 pm with a call to order, followed immediately by the introduction of our Guest Speaker.
    • Our March Speaker will be Sylvia Ganier.
      • Sylvia and her husband Al are founders and owner operators of Green Door Gourmet.
      • Her talk is titled "Garden versus Farm, What Gardeners should know about Farming and what Farmers can learn from Gardeners".  It should be a lively discussion on how a love of plants and nature drive both gardeners and farms on similar paths one minute and large detours on others.
      • The talk will be no longer than 45 minutes and there will only be 15 minutes for questions.  We will be strict with this timing.
  • Potluck Dinner will follow our speaker.
    • If you feel that you can't wait until 7:30 to eat, you are welcome to bring your own dinner to eat during Sylvia's talk.
    • If you wait for the potluck, please bring a savory or sweet dish that serves 10 or more Master Gardeners.
      • Help us in our efforts to be green by bringing your own plate, cup and cutlery
  • Our Business portion of the meeting will begin after the Dinner Break.
    • If you would like to make an announcement at the meeting, please send an email to President@mgofdc.org no later than noon Tuesday, 3/12 so that you can be added to the agenda.
  • Sign up sheets for volunteering at the Urban Garden Festival (Saturday, May 18th) will be available in the back of the room.
  • We will also have a sign up sheet for Native Bee Huts.
    • We are going to order more Native Bee Huts so be sure to sign up if you want one.
      • You can also reach out to Caroll Marrero and let her know you want to be on the list at marrerocaroll1@gmail.com or (615) 554-3344
    • If you already have a Native Bee Hut - it's time to put it out!  Crown Bees has a YouTube video on how to set up your Native Bee Hut here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F58PQ4c3ec4

See you Thursday night!
